Today it is clear to all of us that human activity has affected natural resources. Processes as basic to our lives as livestock raising, we are affecting our natural resources and creating pollution in the environment. However, measuring CO2 emissions is not a straightforward calculation. In Ecoeffy we have developed applications that allow the measurement of emissions according to the application in accordance with the applicable standards.
Global agreements such as those established in the Kyoto Protocol have focused their pollution measurements on greenhouse gas emissions, which have been unified in tons of CO2 equivalent, whose reference and proportion is given by the damage that a ton of CO2 does to the Ozone layer, which produces the greenhouse effect or global warming. There are several greenhouse gases that produce this warming: Methane CH4, hydrofluorocarbons HFCs, perfluorocarbons PFCs and Nitrous Dioxide N20.
The main human activity that pollutes is transport, with about 35% of CO2 eq emissions, of which about 50% corresponds to land transport and 42% naval; is followed by the power generation industry (23%) manufacturing industry with 15%.
Everyone talks about CO2 emissions, but few understand exactly what causes them. Therefore, the following are the main sources of CO2 equivalent emissions:
- Power generation with fossil sources.
- Transport using fossil sources.
- Deforestation of forests
- Living things, especially cattle.
- industrial processes with fossil fuels.
Given the weight of energy use in the amount of CO2 emissions, we can say that the main strategy is Energy Efficiency

Measurement of CO2 emissions equivalent.
We have developed digital solutions for a proper measurement of a company’s CO2 emissions. In general, we can say that any investment that produces a reduction of CO2 emissions of a company, can be subject to financing with green debt bonds in the national or international market.
